False Impressions

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Its pretty easy for us to look like we have it all together.  I can put on some nice clothes, shave, get a fresh haircut, carry my bible with me where ever I go and smile a lot and I will appear like I have things all together.  However, God sees straight through me.  He sees my every fault, flaw and weakness.  There is no fooling Him by my outward appearance.

O how wonderful it would be to appear on the inside to God the way I appear on the outside to people!  This is what makes prayer so important.  We should talk to God in prayer about our struggles and weaknesses.  There is no sense in hiding them, HE sees them anyway.  Why not turn them over to the Lord in prayer and let HIM transform our weaknesses in to strengths?

  2. Thank you very much for this message. We should not be hypocrites- God knows us more than we think. Nice piece.
