Urim And Thummim

Here is a fascinating revelation that God showed me in my bible study this morning.

Have you ever heard of Urim and Thummim?  They were objects that Aaron and High Priests in the Old Testament used to inquire of the Lord.  With them, the High Priests sought yes or no answers from God.  Usually by casting lots!

And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually. Exodus 23:10

God chose this method of communication when He  instructed Moses that Eleazar was to use Urim to obtain decisions for Joshua!

And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out , and at his word they shall come in , both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

David apparently used them to obtain God’s direction in evading Saul. See 1 Samuel 23:9-13.

Today God speaks to us through scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit.  The last reference to Urim and Thummim that I can find is in the Old Testament Book of Nehmiah – And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim. – Nehmiah 7:65

I find it strange that I have never heard this preached in a church.  You learn something new every day.

One Flesh

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. – Genesis 2:24

In addition to reading 10 chapters of the bible a day, I also do a lot of bible study on topics that pertain to practical living and on topics of interest to me.  Today I was doing a study on what it means to be “One Flesh”.  Here is what I found:

 Jesus spoke of marriage like this:  And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? – Matthew 19:4-5

I just learned that scripture describes marriage in terms of head and body.  Ephesians 5:23 backs this up when it says: For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Saviour of the body.

To me this means that the husband is the (HEAD) and the wife is the (BODY)  just as Christ is the (HEAD) of the church and the church is HIS (BODY)

The mystery of marriage is that the head (Man)(Christ) plus the body (Wife) (Church) equal “One Flesh”.

Two heads (TWO MEN) do not equal one flesh, and two bodies (TWO WOMEN) do not equal one flesh either.

Consider the following scriptures:

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. – Leviticus 18:22

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

This also applies to polygamy too.  A head (ONE MAN) and two or more wives (TWO OR MORE BODIES) can not make up a union of ONE FLESH.

Revelations and little nuggets of truth like this are so fascinating to me.  Our God is a pure and Holy God and He gives us guidelines for living a pure and Holy life right here on earth if we will just look for them and search them out.  “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. – Joshua 24:15

A Quick Update

Hello my friends, I have sure missed you all.  Taking care of 2 houses and being there for Wendy in case she needs me has kept me quite busy as of late.  So, please accept my apologies for not having posted in a while.  

Wendy is about at 100% again.  She is walking, sleeping, eating all on her own and she is even driving her car again now.  I am so proud of her and I have nothing but praise to God for her healing.

If you may recall in one of my earlier posts that my beloved dog Howie passed on.  Well, God has sent me a replacement.  Her name is Daisy.  Daisy is a one year old yellow lab/golden retriever mix.  Her previous owners were moving and they could not take her where they were going, so I ended up adopting her.

Also,  as most of you know, I read 10 chapters of the bible a day every single day.  Well, I am proud to say, I am on my 6th time through the bible.  God has taught me so much.  I can hardly wait to start posting regular again.

And finally, I am getting ready to start paying visits to sick people in hospitals.  The Lord, has layed it upon my heart to carry HIS message of salvation, hope and healing to those in hospital beds.

So you see, I have been quite busy.  I promise to get back to posting real soon.  I have a lot of posts burning in my heart to share.  I hope this update finds you all blessed and in good health.

My Reward Is Great

A belated Happy Easter everybody!  I had one of the best weekends and Easters ever!  Wendy and I went to church for the first time since she had her heart attack!  What a wonderful and emotional time it was!  People hugged her and praised the Lord for her healing and I could not help but think, “just like old times again”

I remember standing and singing and seeing Wendy along side of me and just how “right” it felt.  I remembered all the praying and doing battle with Satan for her life when all of a sudden warm needles filled my body from the top of my head to about the pit of my stomach and I heard the words “Well done! Your reward is great” in my mind and tears filled my eyes. What a rush that was!

Just as Jesus raised from the dead, HE raised Wendy from the dead back to life too!  From a heart attack, to coma, to no brain activity, to vegetable, to the doctors not giving her any hope, to Jesus opening her eyes, restoring her mind and memory, to giving her full movement and use of her body, to coming home to ME.  What a miracle!  And as I was singing and worshiping and all those needles running through my body yesterday, all I could do was say “thank you Jesus” from the bottom of my heart.

And that is not all, Saturday, Wendy and I got to spend the day with her Son and grand kids!  On top of that, after church, we got to spend Easter with her mom and her sisters and their families!  And it was like I was standing outside of it all watching it like the happy ending to a movie…and my heart was so grateful.

How To Pray For Others

How do you respond when people ask you to pray for them? Do you know how to lift them up before the the throne of grace? In the first chapter of Colossians, the Apostle Paul has given us a powerful model for intercessory prayer. We can have confidence that God will answer this life-changing biblical prayer. In fact, the prayer outlined in verses 9-14 has the power to rescue someone from all kinds of difficulty, hardship, and destruction. It asks…

1. “We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will” (verse 9). Every believer needs to know the Lord’s specific plans for his or her life. As a parent, you can give your children God’s blessing to follow their heavenly Father’s best for their entire lives by interceding for them daily.

2. “And to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” (verse 9). Ask God to help them walk in a manner worthy of Christ’s name. As believers, our conversation, character, and conduct should reveal obedience and love for God.

3. “Your lives will produce every kind of good fruit.” (verse 10). Christians should have an eternal influence on our world. As we obey God, He makes our lives fruitful.

4. “You will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” (verse 10)
A believer should grow closer and closer to the Lord over time. On a practical level, that means we should study the Bible, apply what we learn, and observe what happens when we obey or disobey God.

5. “We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power” (verse 11). Pray that the other person will experience the power of God in his or her daily life. The Lord loves it when we realize our helplessness and cry out for His supernatural strength.

6. “May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father.” (verses 11-12). This request has to do with the person’s attitude. God wants us to meet life with thankfulness, trusting Him in the midst of hardship. He brings good out of suffering and deepens our character.

Praying biblically always yields wonderful fruit. Colossians 1 gives us a model that we can pray for anyone, no matter how young or old a person is or what circumstance they are in. Commit yourself to intercede consistently for others, and believe that God will work in their lives. He will. His Word guarantees it. 

On A side note:  I had some serious computer problems, that is why I have not posted in a while.  The problem is fixed now and I should get back to posting regularly.  Wendy is getting better and better with each passing day.  She is almost back to her old sweet self again.

In Memory Of Howie

I am sorry I have not posted in a few days, but Satan plagued me with yet another tragedy a few days ago.  My ever faithful dog, friend and companion Howie passed away.

Howie was the best dog a man could ever have.  I had him for quite a few years.  He would do anything for me and I mean anything.  He was a beautiful dog.  I took very good care of him. 

We shared a lot of good times together and for that I am very grateful.  He is badly missed in my life and he left an emptiness in my heart.

I hand dug a nice grave and buried him in my back yard, close to me, where he belongs.  Perhaps the most painful part of it all is I never got to say goodbye.  He was out in the sun in Wendys back yard.  I went out to check on him and he was dead.

He loved going for long walks with me.  He also loved to wrestle.  He liked going for rides with me in the car too.  Inside, he was forever at my feet, and at night, he loved sleeping right in the doorway of my bedroom.

I am not sure if dogs go to Heaven or not.  I can only pray that God takes care of him and that someday Howie and I will meet again.

From Death To Life By The Power Of God

The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,  And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live ? And I answered , O Lord GOD, thou knowest .  Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live : And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live ; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.  So I prophesied as I was commanded : and as I prophesied , there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together , bone to his bone.  And when I beheld , lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.  Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy , son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain , that they may live .  So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived , and stood up upon their feet – Ezekiel 37:1-10

If you have a loved one in the hospital and the doctors do not give them much hope to live read Ezekiel 37.  Just re read the above verses and feel God’s power in them!  HE can do ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING!  Nothing is too hard for HIM.

The Lord told Ezekiel to prophesy:  meaning to believe that by God’s power, even those dry bones could live again.

Wendy was not given much hope at first.  Me and her mom decided that we were not going to believe what the doctors said, that we were going to believe God and HIM alone for a full and complete healing and restoration. 

I read Ezekiel 37 over Wendy, and then I prophesied over her and I stuck to it both while I was there with her and while I was at home.  I told myself over and over that she was just sleeping and that God would wake her up when HE was ready.  I reminded myself over and over that she was in Gods hands and that HE was in charge and that HE would do what was best for Wendy. I said over and over that she would not have any brain damage.  I said that she would have full and complete use over her body.  Over and over and over again, I prophesied over Wendy in person, to her picture at home, to God and to myself.  And within a short time, HE made Wendys dry bones live again.  A lot of times I did not say these things aloud, I simply said them in silence to myself.  What it did was destroy all doubt within me, and it will for you too.

What this chapter does is shows that when God’s spirit truly comes upon a person, that old dead things such as dead hopes, dead dreams, dead ideals will come back to life and take on a new quality.  I let God breathe into Wendy and HE also breathed into me for some reason as well.  Now my hopes, dreams and plans with Wendy are not dead, but they have fresh new spiritual life!

So, do YOUR part and eliminate doubt in your mind and heart with Ezekiel chapter 37 and God will do HIS part.  Give your loved one to HIM, no matter what HE choses to do and know HE will do what HE knows is best for both you and that person.  This requires a tremendous amount of faith, but according to our faith it is done unto us.

On a side note:  Wendy is talking, eating, and even walking now without her cane even.  Yesterday, she sat out on her porch with me and got some of Gods nourishing and healing sunshine.  Her medications make her pretty drowsy and tired and she rests a lot.  She needs that healing rest.  Her faith in God is as strong as it ever was as well.  She says she is not ready yet to respond to all of your comments, but she is very grateful for your support and prayers.
